CarePlanner is a SAAS company offering a rostering and care management platform to social care organisations, predominantly home care agencies.
We operate a modern technology stack (think Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Helm, AWS, DataDog, CircleCI) and offer a supportive environment in which employees can grow and learn.
Overview:
You will have the opportunity to gain valuable skills, knowledge and experience as you complete an IT - Software and Web Development - DevOps - Level 4 Apprenticeship.
Salary:
£24,000 per annum.
Main role / Responsibilities:
- A DevOps Engineer at CarePlanner helps us to support and improve our technical infrastructure.
- Supporting software (such as Continuous Integration code), managed services (AWS RDS and ElastiCache to name a few) and containerised environment (we run everything in Kubernetes).
- You are a versatile fixer equally happy writing Python or shell scripts to help manage our infrastructure as you are getting to grips with Terraform to manage our infrastructure as code.
- You will be involved in architecting solutions to infrastructure problems and then implementing those plans.
- Security will be a key concern to you, both security of access to our infrastructure and preempting vulnerabilities to our systems.
- You will play a key role in delivering our Information Security Management System, including reminding others of their commitments and upholding your own.

Desirable skills:
- Methodical, focussed, patient, techlover with a peoplefirst approach and excellent interpersonal skills
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Excellent attention to detail
- Demonstrable interest in, and commitment to, Linux system use, as well as cloud technologies.
- Familiarity with the basics of at least one programming language (preferably Python).
Personal qualities:
- Have a real willingness to get stuck in and learn by doing
- Good interpersonal skills
- Questionasking/solutionfinding approach
Entry requirements
The entry requirements for this programme are as follows:
- Level 3 Software apprenticeship
- OR BTEC Diploma in IT and successful completion of our Aptitude Test
- OR two years' experience in a relevant role and successful completion of our Aptitude Test

Future prospects:
Once you have successfully completed the apprenticeship, future prospects are likely to include being offered a permanent role on the DevOps team, and being offered more autonomy and responsibility.

QA's apprenticeships are funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA), an executive agency of the Department for Education.
To be eligible for a Government funded apprenticeship you must have lived in the UK or European Economic Area (EEA) for the last 3 consecutive years.
