Description
The post holder will assist senior staff with the provision of individualised nursing care.

You will support the team in the achievement of medical outpatient and dermatology objectives and provide support to relatives/carers whilst managing and co-ordinating clinics.

Maintain patient and staff confidentiality at all times


Under the direction of senior staff assist with the delivery of individual programs of care undertaking duties as delegated by senior members of the nursing team.

Communicate all relevant information concerning the patient's needs/cares to the appropriate senior members of staff responsible for the patient.

Contribute to effective communication in the department by assisting with appropriate administration duties.


Work with colleagues to promote a conducive environment by assisting in the control of infection; having an awareness of current practices/policies and participating in decontamination duties.

Work with colleagues to promote the development of the department's philosophy, nursing model and agreed ward objectives


Work with colleagues to develop clinical expertise and continually improve standards of nursing Maintain good working relationships with other members of staff.

Liaise and communicate relevant information to other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Assist in developing a therapeutic and compassionate environment and meets the needs of patients.


Be familiar and comply at all times with relevant operational, personnel, health & safety policies, procedures and protocols applicable to the post.

The Healthcare Assistant is a vital role within our organisation.

Acknowledge patients/relatives concerns and complaints, resolving these locally if possible and referring on to the appropriate colleagues as required

Assist in the reporting of incidents.

Work as a member of the nursing team to ensure that care is clinically effective and complying with the requirements of the Trust's Clinical Governance Committee


Be aware and supportive of research and audit undertaken by other members of the multidisciplinary team and assist in the implementation of findings.

As part of the Trust's appraisal process and under the guidance of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, identify own learning needs and participate with the appraisal process


Participate and develop skills that the role requires to become an effective and efficient member of the dermatology and medical outpatient services.

Assist in the continual development of a learning environment, to gain and share knowledge and skills

Liaise with colleagues to assist in the development of other staff

Attend Essential Training as required by the Trust

Completion of the Care Certificate

To commence the QCF level 2 Clinical Healthcare Support and complete within 12 months

To act in line with the Trust's CARE values.

To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.


To be familiar with relevant Operational, Personnel, Health and Safety Policies and procedures, including Fire, COSHH, No Smoking and Alcohol.


It is the responsibility of every employee to actively help the Trust prevent and control infection by washing their hands effectively, carrying out their duties in a way which minimises infection, attending appropriate training and maintaining up to date knowledge and skills in infection control and prevention as relevant to their post.
