Anglian Water offers a flexible approach, this role provides you the flexibility to work from home and from an Anglian Water office.

Your base location will be in Peterborough with travel to sites across Anglian Water's region.


Unique opportunity to be part of a Major Project team developing and delivering Major Infrastructure schemes, including the development of billion pound+ reservoir projects


Anglian Water are developing two new strategic reservoirs for the region in the RAPID process: the Lincolnshire Reservoir and Fens Reservoir.

These multi-billion-pound projects are nationally significant infrastructure projects and are being developed thisAMP so that they are ready to start on site this decade and be in supply in AMP9.

Along with this, the Major Infrastructure team will also be working to deliver exciting new Major Projects, including the Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Plant Relocation Project.

We are currently looking for an Assistant Commercial Manager to join the team on a permanent basis.

The role will assist and support the Major Infrastructure Commercial Team in ensuring commercial performance, assurance and compliance with commercial contractsacross delivery teams.


What will you be doing?

  • Undertake cost to complete / budget reviews with the delivery teams
  • Ensure commercial challenge at all times across delivery streams
  • Assist in resolving contractual and commercial problems.
  • Review subcontract orders and advise accordingly within commercial services and delivery teams
  • Attend internal and external commercial review meetings.
  • Review on contract variations, NEC compensation events and other events with partners and agree appropriate actions with Commercial Manager
  • Undertake daily commercial services processes and procedures. Offering direction and instruction where appropriate
  • Assist in Final account reviews / audits to achieve the best possible outcome for commercial services
  • Maximising value and minimising cost by ensuring that appropriate controls are in place to monitor and manage the operating cost base
  • Support in the assurance of contracts within delivery teams to ensure compliance with all obligations both legally and in relation to the delivery strategies within commercial services
  • Identify areas of noncompliance and develop clear action plans that quickly provide improvements. Ongoing monitoring of action plans, escalating as appropriate to the Commercial Lead.

What does it take to be an Assistant Commercial Manager?

  • Commercial knowledge and experience gained through proven experience in a commercial business role
  • Commercial and contractual awareness with a proven track record of success
  • Knowledge and some working experience of NEC Contract
  • Organised can structure thinking and organise actions. Can organise own workload and personal priorities
  • Excellent communication skills across all business communities
  • Able to articulate complex messages succinctly and clearly
