Slough Borough Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Safeguarding and Quality to join our team.
As a key member of the Executive Director's Management Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of adult social care service provision in our community.
What you'll be doing:
- Leadership: Lead the delivery of exceptional safeguarding services.
- Strategy Development: Drive forward the council's public service reform agenda by providing strategic vision and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Corporate Leadership: Collaborate with crosscouncil initiatives to embed changes sustainably and inspire staff towards achieving strategic objectives.
- Service Leadership: Direct and manage service delivery, ensuring efficiency, responsiveness, and adherence to statutory requirements.
- Financial Management: Prioritise resources effectively to support corporate vision, driving outcomebased commissioning models and exploring commercial opportunities.
- Partnership Engagement: Actively engage with stakeholders to champion unified public services and foster collaboration across agencies.
- Business Change: Lead change management programs to deliver continual improvement and support the development of a councilwide corporate culture.
- Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with regulations and internal policies, managing performance and risk effectively.
- Equality and Diversity: Uphold and promote equality and diversity policies, embedding diversity into all aspects of work and service delivery.
What you'll have:
- Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
- Significant experience of Adult Safeguarding at an operational and strategic level.
- Experience of working across agencies at a Strategic level.
- Experience: Extensive leadership experience within health or social care settings, with a track record of managing finance, risk, and performance.
- Skills: Strong strategic thinking, communication, negotiation, and problemsolving skills, with a commitment to delivering on the council's vision and values.
- Knowledge: Expert understanding of legislative factors influencing safeguarding, best practices, and the priorities of Slough Borough Council.
