anticipated 3 months Location: Leeds - 1-2 days in the office and 3-4 days WFH Our client is within central government in the healthcare sector, and they are looking to hire a Buyer(Commercial).

As the Buyer - Commercial you will have at least five years' experience working in a similar role with previous Framework experience and a good understanding of the tender process.

A Buyer - Commercial is required to lead on a system wide commercial strategy and operation.

You will lead on the implementation of key strategic initiatives across Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and Industry Engagement with effective market engagement to build better professional buying and relationship management behaviours and develop and implement an effective contract management strategy and to also deliver new contract management plans and processes.

We are looking for a Buyer with an understanding of the commercial lifecycle with detailed knowledge, that can be applied when undertaking complex and contentious commercial activities.

As the Buyer - Commercial you will have the following responsibilities:


  • Assess the existing Commercial landscape
  • Implement key strategic initiatives across SRM and Industry Engagement with effective market engagement to build better professional buying and relationship management behaviours
  • Design, shape and agree innovative commercial strategies for highly complex, high value, high profile requirements in the IT and Digital categories, as well as common goods and services, in accordance with best practice, local policy and expectations
  • Develop an exciting and clearly defined commercial vision and strategy aligned to an agreed pipeline of future requirements and communicate this expertly to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop, shape and adapt commercial teams and resources to support the delivery of the commercial strategy and programme/operational requirements
  • Identification of savings and opportunity realisation
  • Execute sourcing exercises aligned to category strategies within defined timescales and to agreed quality standards
  • Develop, implement and manage technical solutions to enable effective procurement, contract management and SRM
  • Develop and deliver a business intelligence service to power the development of procurement and category management strategies, business and KPI analytics, facilitate scenario planning and pipeline/demand management
  • Ensure compliant commercial practice, process efficiency and robust controls and assurance mechanisms across the full commercial lifecycle
As the Buyer - Commercial you will have worked in a similar role and will have the following skillset:

  • Experienced buyer
  • Familiar with the tender process
  • Framework experience
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • Legal side of T&C's
  • Understanding of the commercial lifecycle
  • Demonstrate extensive skills and behaviours at a practitioner level
  • Detailed knowledge and substantial experience of the majority of the skills areas and applies them when undertaking complex and contentious commercial activities.

Anticipated Length of Assignment:

Unless otherwise stated (we do carry the occasional permanent vacancy) all of our roles are technically temporary, though opening assignments can be and often are, extended by clients on a longer term basis and can sometimes become permanent.
