We are seeking a Community Volunteer Engagement Officer for a part-time hybrid role, located in Cardiff but with flexibility for some remote work.

The role involves overseeing and managing our volunteers, recruiting new volunteers, and organizing training, networking, and social events to encourage volunteers to remain engaged with our work.

In addition, the Community Volunteer Engagement Officer will support the implementation of our annual community engagement plan, liaise with other organisations with shared interests and organise community outreach programs.


You will be expected to attend meetings of the Executive Committee held four times a year, and the Annual General Meeting, and produce reports as required by the Executive Committee for those meetings.

You will also provide support the Executive Committee in respect of their work to define and implement policies relating to the operation of the organisation to meet legal, statutory, and good working practice requirements.


This is not an exhaustive list, and the Trustees would expect you to undertake any other relevant duties as directed by your line manager.


Qualifications

  • A diploma, degree, or equivalent qualification (or relevant experience)
  • Car owner/driver (essential)
  • Fluency in Welsh (desirable but not essential)

Knowledge

  • Experience in volunteer management, community engagement, or a related field; experience working in the charity sector is a plus.
  • Understanding of tackling social inclusion, loneliness and isolation, community development and volunteering with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy, respectfulness and understanding of the diverse nature of the community to ensure inclusivity and equal opportunities for volunteers and clients.

Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to organise events and lead projects effectively, with excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Good IT skills including experience of using office software such as Microsoft Office. Work closely with the coordinator and occasionally deputise for the post.
  • Provide content for the website and social media platforms.

Salary:
£10,209 for 18hrs a week for 10 months contract commencing in June 2024, linked to any increases in the National Living Wage. Vehicle expenses will also be paid in respect of any business travel using your own car, paid at the mileage rate currently in force. Overtime is not payable, however, time in lieu may be taken in exceptional cases with agreement by your line manager.


Contract:

Fixed Term Contract, part time, 18hrs per week (flexible working pattern -spread over 4 days between Monday to Friday) with 14 days paid leave and statutory bank holidays plus 4 fixed concessionary days over Christmas and New Year.
