The Department of Humanities is a community of researchers, teachers, students, and support staff working together on some of the most interesting and exciting issues in contemporary culture.

Journalism, Media and Communication (JMC) is an integral part of the Department and wider University with a popular joint-honours undergraduate degree, three Masters programmes (in Media & Communications, Digital Journalism and Gender Studies) and a growing PhD community.

Our world-leading research is concentrated around key themes in gender & media; science, health & environment; politics, publics & activism; and violence & conflict.
