Description

To work in conjunction with the anaesthetist and multi-disciplinary team to ensure the safe running of the theatre list, in line with the requirements of an anaesthetic practitioner.

To ensure that anaesthetic equipment is checked according to policy and recommended good practice, and to ensure that the anaesthetic room is stocked and cleaned after use and CD drugs are checked To remove from service any equipment for planned preventative maintenance or repair of fault in accordance with departmental procedures To maintain effective communication skills with patients, consultants, colleagues and senior staff.

The post holder will work closely with the senior staff and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent clinical standards of clinical practice and staff development as part of the theatre team.

To be responsible for the continuing professional development, acting as a mentor with the support of their senior colleagues.

To take charge of the department when required to do so.

The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures, supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment.

To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover for any area specified as appropriate to knowledge and training.

In partnership with other professionals provide excellent patient care.

This process should include relevant assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the Trust policies.
