Skilled Manual Machinist


My client is currently looking for a Skilled Manual Machinist to join their small friendly team, working in Barrow upon Soar, Leicestershire.

They are a well-established, family run Engineering Company, established in 1963.

A strong mechanical engineering background is essential.


Experience to include:


  • Boring
  • Vertical & Horizontal


  • Milling

  • Vertical & Horizontal


  • Turning

  • Screw cutting, Steady work


  • Grinding

  • Surface and Cylindrical
  • Desirable:
  • Experience in Welding / Light Fabrication.
  • Fork Lift Truck licence is desirable.

Outline of Job Duties:

1) High quality and timely manufacture of required parts to drawing specifications with minimum supervision.

2) Complete accurate manufacture of parts as scheduled and within time deadlines.

3) Manufacture equipment parts according to information supplied as scheduled by the Manager.

4) Review work conscientiously and thoroughly to ensure high quality parts are manufactured.

5) Identify and resolve issues and feedback problems to the appropriate people.

6) Contribute to the housekeeping of the workshops, maintaining tidy and clean work areas.

7) Participate fully with the stock control system.

8) Complete administration and paperwork as required eg timesheets.

9) Adhere to all company policies and procedures and participate fully in the Health and Safety arrangements.

10) Contribute positively to the organisation and cleanliness of the machine shop.

11) Work in an ethical and professional manner at all times as a representative of the company.

12) Flexibility to use other relevant skills and abilities as required.

13) Effective communication with colleagues, customers and project teams.

14) High standards of reliability and punctuality.

15) Good organisational and time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.

16) Ability to work using own initiative as well as operate as part of a team.

17) A flexible approach to respond to the demands of the business.

Hours of work: 39 per week

Monday to Thursday: 7.30 am to 4.30 pm

Friday: 7.30 am to 12.30 pm
