We are looking to recruit a full and part time Band 2 Healthcare Assistants to our Short Stay Unit (SSU) team.

SSU is a 24hr unit caring for patients who require a short stay in hospital. This is a fast paced & challenging unit, caring for predominantly medical admissions. We receive our patients directly from AED and EAU.

The aim of the unit is to provide treatment to patients, with timely transfer to specialist providers or discharge.


We have an innovative team incorporating, Acute Consultants, and Diabetologists, experienced nursing staff and the ward is fully supported by the multi-disciplinary team including pharmacists, outreach nurses, specialist nurses and others to provide a safe and supportive clinical and working environment.


We are looking for health care assistants are committed, motivated, ready to be challenged and who are willing to engage.


The main duties of the role include delivering patient centred and holistic nursing care to our patients, involving all aspects of personal care.


The Secretary of State has approved the partnership between St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals and Southport & Ormskirk Hospitals.


From 1stJuly we have come together as a single organisation under the name Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.


The Trust delivers acute hospital care, intermediate care, community, and primary care services to a population of over 600,000 people with a combined workforce of around 9000 dedicated and skilled staff from 17 locations including Whiston, Southport & Formby, St Helens, Ormskirk and Newton hospitals.


The Trust provides regional services for burns, plastic surgery and spinal injuries to more than 4 million people across Mersey and West Lancashire, Cheshire, the Isle of Man and North Wales.
