28.75 hours/week,
Monday - Friday, Term time plus 1 week - 39 weeks per year

Start date Sept 2023 to August This is a temporary contract with the possibility of being extended


As a Subject Specific Teaching Assistant, you will be working with students with special educational needs, implementing the strategies and advice included in their Education, Health and Care Plan or Learning Profile.

You will support students across Years 7 to 11 during their English lessons.

You will work with teachers to raise the learning and attainment of the student(s) while also promoting their independence, self-esteem, and social inclusion.

You will provide support so that they can access the curriculum, participate in learning, and experience a sense of achievement.

You will need to have good communication and interpersonal skills, the belief that all students, regardless of their personal circumstances can excel and the ability to set high expectations in order to motivate and inspire.

You will support students in interventions to develop their literacy skills.


Working to address the needs of named pupil/pupils who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning & helping them stay engaged and on track during each lesson.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 but Exceptions Order may apply.


Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 12 months

Part-time hours: 28.75 per week

£10.98 per hour
