Kingdom Services Group have a great opportunity for a
Concierge Security Officer to join the team
, working within a student accommodation block at the University of the Highlands and Islands, IV2 area.

Please note:
An enhanced DBS is mandatory for this role and will be paid for by Kingdom

Salary:
£11.50 per hour


Hours:
On average hours per week, 4 On 4 Off, shifts as per site rota am am. (Will be required to cover colleagues annual leave)

What you will be doing:


  • The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment within a student accommodation block.
  • They will monitor and patrol the premises, respond to incidents, and enforce safety regulations.
  • The Security Officer will also provide assistance and support to students, staff, and visitors as needed

Duties and Responsibilities:


Security Monitoring:

  • Conduct regular patrols of the student accommodation block to ensure the safety and security of the premises.
  • Monitor CCTV cameras and alarm systems to detect any suspicious activities or potential security breaches.
  • Respond promptly to any security incidents, such as unauthorized access, disturbances, or emergencies.
  • Report any security concerns or incidents to the appropriate authorities and document them accurately.

Access Control:

  • Control access to the student accommodation block by monitoring entry and exit points.
  • Verify the identity of individuals entering the premises, ensuring they have valid authorization.
  • Issue visitor passes and maintain a log of visitors, ensuring compliance with security protocols.
  • Assist in the implementation and enforcement of access control policies and procedures.

Safety and Emergency Response:

  • Conduct regular inspections of fire safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and emergency exits, to ensure they are in proper working condition.
  • Respond to fire alarms, medical emergencies, or other incidents, following established emergency response protocols.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to students, staff, and visitors during emergency situations.
  • Collaborate with local emergency services, such as police or fire departments, when necessary.

Student Support:

  • Provide a visible and approachable presence within the student accommodation block, fostering a sense of safety and security.
  • Assist students with general inquiries, directions, and information about the accommodation block and its facilities.
  • Offer guidance and support to students who may be experiencing personal or safetyrelated issues.
  • Liaise with relevant university or accommodation management staff to address student concerns or escalate issues as required.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of security incidents, daily activities, and any other relevant information.
  • Prepare written reports on securityrelated matters, including incidents, breaches, and safety hazards.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Participate in regular meetings and training sessions to stay updated on security protocols and best practices.

What do we need from you?

  • Proven experience as a security officer or in a similar role, preferably within a residential or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of security protocols, emergency response procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Strong observation and surveillance skills, with the ability to identify and respond to potential security threats.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, staff, and visitors.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations and make quick decisions.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to walk, stand, and patrol for extended periods.
  • Proficiency in using security equipment, such as CCTV systems and access control devices.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and report writing.
  • A valid
    SIA Licence or applied for
