Targeted Youth Support


Surrey County Council's Targeted Youth Support (TYS) Service supports some of the county's most vulnerable young people to ensure they have the best chance of thriving and succeeding as adults.

The service works with young people at risk of offending, familybreakdown, homelessness, sexual exploitation and criminal exploitation.

We provide help at the point when problems emerge, preventing the need for more specialist services further down the line.

We also hold the Youth Offending function for the county, supervisingyoung people in the Youth Justice System in Surrey.

Our Children's Services are on a rapid change journey with new management, innovative approaches and considerable energy.

Your Role


As a Targeted Youth Support Social Worker you will provide experience and leadership for practice within the TYS Team, including assessment, management of risk and case holding.


You will work with some of the most complex young people and families that the service supports and as such
we are looking for social workers who have completed their post qualifying year and have substantial experience working with adolescents.

You will also support the training and mentoring of less experienced staff; providing guidance to preventthe escalation of young people to the Safeguarding Adolescent Team.

  • An unconsolidated welcome payment of £1,000 with a corresponding retention period of six months
  • A further unconsolidated retention payment of £2,000 on completion of six months service, with a corresponding retention period of twelve months
  • A final unconsolidated retention payment of £3,000 on completion of 18 months service with a corresponding retention period of two years
*Payment will be deducted from the final month salary should the corresponding tie in period not be completed.
