What is the role?
We are recruiting for a Company Accountant to join our Finance Team. The Accountant will be responsible for the management of the Ledger and Payroll Clerks.
The main purpose of the role is to provide an effective financial support function to the local senior management team and actively participate in the decision making and evaluation processes, whilst ensuring all Group reporting requirements are achieved.
The role will include:
- Management and responsibility of all aspects of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting of the Regional business ensuring that all Group reporting deadlines are met
- Attend and provide input at all local company Board meetings and Valuation Review meetings held bimonthly throughout the year
- Provide financial assistance and decision making support to the regional management team
- Supervision of a small team of accounts staff to make sure that routine transaction processing and monthly payment routines all meet Group deadlines and adhere to Group prompt payment policies
- Develop and maintain financial policies and adhere to Group financial procedures ensuring consistent, accurate and robust accounting information produced
- Review and challenge site valuations cost to complete forecasts which act as a key control of the business
- Quality assurance of all VAT and SDLT/LBTT payments made in connection with land purchases and sales
- To ensure a thorough understanding of the systems, particularly COINS and ensure the integrity of the data processed and held
What we need from you?
- Experience of working in a similar role is essential
- Ability to communicate at all levels in a courteous and professional manner
- Accountancy Qualification or be in the final stage of studying for an Accountancy Qualification
- Previous experience of working within the housing sector or similar would be advantageous
- Fully conversant with Microsoft office especially Excel
