Overview

The Compliance department is responsible for identifying and advising on the risks that we face.

We design and implement controls to protect the business from those risks and monitor and report on the effectiveness of the controls in the management of our exposure to risks.

We resolve compliance difficulties as they occur and advise the business on licensing regulations, rules and controls where necessary.

Purpose of the role


You will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining an expert knowledge of all relevant legislation, regulations and technical documents.
  • Maintaining a broad understanding of compliance processes, AML processes and Responsible Gambling processes
  • Supporting Data Protection Executives and GDPR Specialists through coaching, mentoring and influence
  • Providing the business with commercially aware advice and support, based on expert knowledge and empirical evidence
  • Assisting with the delivery of the Privacy Programme
  • Assisting in delivering a programme of Privacy risk monitoring and reporting.
  • Advising on and carrying out incident/breach assessments
  • Providing expert input into Privacy Impact Assessments and other privacy risk assessments to assess the impact of proposed changes to business processes.
  • Maintaining internal records and logs of Privacy Impact Assessments and Risk Assessments
  • Creating documented procedures and training material regarding rights requests and the wider privacy programme.
  • Advising on customer privacy queries and complaints.
  • Being an advocate of the Privacy Programme across the business and support delivery of its objectives.
  • Being a privacy advocate and stakeholder in projects
  • Being a key stakeholder in the Register of Processing Activities
  • Assisting in ad hoc duties as and when required

You will have (Essential criteria):

  • CIPP/E or other recognised data protection accreditation
  • Exceptional organisation and prioritisation skills with proven ability to create and document tactical and strategic plans
  • Highly diplomatic and able to support and empower colleagues
  • A proven track record of presenting to/training the business
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory frameworks and risk mitigation strategies
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to work across all levels of the business
  • Leadership qualities, including acting a role model and mentoring colleagues
  • Exceptional attention to detail & accuracy, particularly in external communications
  • Exceptional English language skills both written and verbal
  • Basic project management skills
It would be a bonus if you also had (Desirable skills):

  • Experience working in a legal framework
  • Ability to think out of the box, and able to find innovative solutions to problems
  • Experience of working in a process driven environment
  • Knowledge of wider regulatory requirements such as gambling regulation and money laundering
  • A proven track record in stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Good working knowledge of customer management systems would be advantageous.
  • Experience with configuring workflows to support the privacy programme
