We are working with a major international company, with their head office based in Staffordshire. They are expanding their procurement department, and have a need for several Strategic Buyers to join their business.

The successful Buyers will work within a busy procurement department, with a focus to fulfil the category strategy for your area and work to company guidelines and processes.

Which include Early Supplier Engagement agreements and the wider Category strategy. Naturally, cost, quality, and risk will all be key factors for the business. You'll negotiate and analyse to ensure the company achieves the best deals and products.

You will gain a great understanding of what the business needs and work closely with suppliers in the UK, Europe, Russia, and Asia.

I am looking for proven experience and the ability to negotiate the best deals for the business. Good communication skills and influence will be essential, along with the ability for building relationships. A CIPS/MCIPS qualification would certainly be an advantage.

With these talents, you'll be equipped to help more junior team members develop - but to really excel, you need motivation, enthusiasm, and the drive to take the business forward.

You will also need a detailed understanding of Purchasing tools and processes including:

Category Management
Budget Planning and Reporting
Supplier Contracts
Project Management
Practical Problem Solving
Advanced Negotiation Techniques
Inventory Management Understanding
Management Systems knowledge (ISO, PDCA, TQM, etc)
