Zachary Daniels are pleased to partner with a Global Distribution powerhouse looking to recruit a Category Manager for a 6 month fixed term contract.

The Category Manager will be responsible for selecting the product assortment and suppliers through rangereviews and supplier commercial negotiations to achieve best cost/supply terms & conditions, presenting those products effectively to customers in digital and print publications to drive revenue, gross margin %/pounds, customer acquisition, and overall financialperformance.

The Category Manager is considered the "business owner" of the assigned product categories.


The Category Manager will partner with other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in Product Content/Product Information, Merchandising, Publishing, Pricing, Marketing, and Operations to create best-in-class customer experiences in omnichannel publication for theircategories.


Role Responsibilities

  • Define & Execute Category Strategy, including Exclusive Brand development, to drive category sales, margin, and profitable growth.
  • Develop assortment strategies, organisation and naming strategies, and product information strategies for all assigned product categories.
  • Research marketplace trends involving customers, suppliers, and awareness of competitors to identify new product, sourcing, and product content ideas to ensure our assortment and customer experience are the best in class.
  • Select suppliers for existing and new products, and negotiate pricing, rebate & contribution, merchandising and marketing support, product training support, service level agreement, key performance indications, and general terms & conditions.
  • Communicate category plans to SMEs in Product Content/Product Information, Merchandising, Publishing, Marketing, Sales, and Operations to create bestinclass customer experiences in omnichannel for assigned categories.
  • Partner with SMEs in Pricing to ensure assigned categories remain competitive, taking account of goodbetterbest pricing conventions, and our product specific marketing initiatives drive profitable growth.
  • Partner with SMEs on product compliance and management of a product certification repository for assigned categories.
  • Partner with SMEs on order cycle and stocking policy, and product life cycle management, including excess and obsolescence stock sell through strategies.
  • Global sourcing of Exclusive Brand aligned to Category Strategy (may require periodic time overseas to attend trade shows and to develop relationships with overseas suppliers).
