Job Summary:


The Fabrication Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations within the steelwork fabrication facility, ensuring projects are completed to high standards, on time, and within budget.

The role demands strict adherence to health and safety regulations, quality control, and efficient team management to achieve organisational goals.


Responsibilities:


Safety Leadership and Compliance:

  • Enforce and actively contribute to achieving company safety targets, maintaining a zerotolerance policy towards unsafe working practices and conditions.
  • Ensure all team members are fully trained in and comply with safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to risk assessments and method statements.

Quality and Standards Enforcement:

  • Implement and maintain site systems and controls in alignment with company standards and projectspecific requirements, including quality systems and engineering standards.
  • Oversee the fabrication process to ensure all work meets or exceeds quality standards and project specifications, including conducting regular inspections and quality control checks.

Team Supervision and Development:

  • Supervise and manage the fabrication team, ensuring all members are competent and possess the necessary training and certifications.
  • Identify training and development needs within the team, facilitating opportunities for growth and ensuring that all members are equipped with the latest skills and knowledge relevant to their roles.

Project Management and Coordination:

  • Coordinate the procurement of materials and equipment, ensuring all resources meet project specifications and timelines.
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and external contractors to maintain professional relationships and ensure seamless project execution.

Operational Excellence:

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive daily records of operations, incidents, and progress on projects, ensuring all activities are documented and quality pack signoffs are completed.
  • Manage the process for closing out all contract documentation, including the signoff of all Quality Assurance (QA) documentation and the preparation of project handover documents.

Hands-on Fabrication Work:

  • Participate in handson fabrication tasks as required, demonstrating advanced skills in welding, cutting, assembling, and finishing steel components.
  • Lead by example in demonstrating technical proficiency and adherence to safety and quality standards in the workshop.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Continuously assess and improve fabrication processes, techniques, and team performance to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, new technology, and best practices in steel fabrication and incorporate relevant advancements into the team's operations.

Ad Hoc Responsibilities:

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to, assisting in the planning and layout of projects, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting the broader objectives of the organisation.

Requirements:


  • Advanced Fabrication Skills: Demonstrates expertlevel knowledge and handson capability in steelwork fabrication methods, including but not limited to welding, cutting, bending, and assembling steel structures. This skill is pivotal in ensuring the production of highquality, structurally sound projects that adhere to specific design requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Possesses a keen ability to conduct thorough quality control assessments, ensuring all fabricated components comply with the project's technical specifications and quality standards. This includes familiarity with relevant industry standards and the capacity to identify and rectify any issues that may compromise the integrity or quality of the final product.
  • Safety Compliance: Exhibits a strong understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to the steel fabrication industry. This includes proficient use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), risk assessment capabilities, and the ability to implement effective safety measures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for all team members.
  • Machine Operation: Demonstrates proficiency in operating a variety of machinery and equipment critical to the fabrication process, such as forklifts, cranes, welding machines, and cutting tools. This skill is essential for ensuring efficient, safe, and accurate fabrication work.
  • Technical Drawing Interpretation: Has the capability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, a crucial skill for translating design concepts into physical components and assemblies with precision.
