Description
Our client is an ISO9001 subcontract machining company, manufacturing components for aerospace, medical, electronics and scientific equipment manufacturers. They process prototype, low to medium batch production in aluminium, engineering plastics, stainless and tool steels.

Work with production machinists to minimise waiting times and deliver "better than the norm" quality outcomes. Engage and play an equal part in continuous improvement activities to streamline the quality department's procedures to improve efficiency.


Job Duties & Experience
Coordinate, conduct and minimise components waiting for first off inspection.

Conduct and expedite first off inspections in core and overtime hours.

Reduce first offs waiting in conflict by coordinating with all designated inspectors.

Review & mentor in process inspection procedures with machinists.

Coach and mentor machinists in robust measurement techniques.

Issue specific inspection equipment for in process inspection.

Coach and mentor machinists to load and run CMM programs for intermediate in process first offs.

Support with sub-con, finishing and final inspection in the department.

Minimise components waiting for pre-sub-con, post sub-con and final inspection.

Proactively contribute to improving external and internal quality outcomes.


Contribute to completing immediate 8D-NCR investigations with simplified feedback within 48 hours of the event to all areas of the business de-risking "margin burning issues" to assist in driving 1 % net profit improvement for 5 continuous years.

Checking signatory for reverse engineering, tooling modification and machining design drawings sign off.

Proactively contribute to the quality department's continuous improvement activities.

Play an equal part in the fortnightly quality L10 meeting.

Assist with internal calibration of tooling.

Follow ISO9001:2015 procedures and feedback systems.

CNC machining and engineering background.

Comprehensive knowledge and ability to interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.


Extensive hands-on experience of using all types of traditional measuring equipment including: - digital height gauges, shadow graphs, micrometers, digital vernier callipers, bore micrometers, pin & thread gauges etc.

Good organisational skills and ability to work under your own initiative.

You will be analytical, accurate and thorough in all aspects of your work.

Interactive team player, excellent communication skills.

Familiarity with an ISO9001:2015 quality environment, promoting and being part of continual improvement.

Experience of programming and using CNC CMM's would be advantageous but not essential. The company will provide training.

Flexible to be able to help out in other departments.

Have a continuous improvement focus.

Standard hours:
Mon - Thursday: 7.30 am to 5.00 pm, 30-minute lunch break.

Friday: 7.30 am to 12.30 pm.

41 hour a week.

A competitive hourly rate "to attract the best".

Ample opportunity for overtime at 1.4 times hourly rate.
