Job Title Learning and Development Manager

Responsible for:
All staff, children and parents of the nursery,


Responsible to:
Area Manager

Hours of work Between 37-40 hours 50-52 weeks per year

Holiday Entitlement As per contract of employment

Job Purpose


To provide the best start in life for every child by ensuring that the nurseries are run according to Over Hall Community Enterprises Limited vision and policies and procedures.


Work closely with the Area Manager and Learning and Development Manager at other settings to ensure quality education and childcare for every child in a Sunrise Nursery.

Work under the Area Manager to implement Board decisions on the management and running of each setting.

  • To focus on the children attending the nurseries and working within the Preschool room or rooms where you feel will benefit from support 3 days a week (flexible on days due to other commitments).
  • Lead small group times for groups of children focusing on letters and sounds, numeracy and PSED groups. Focusing on interests of the children.
  • To develop the EYPP action plan to show how we are closing the gap.
  • From completion of the data analysis from Area manager, Learning and Development Managers to complete action plans with room supervisors.
  • To lead half termly leadership team meetings (room supervisors).
  • Work with all children so that knowledge is built on all children within the setting.
  • To ensure that the nursery is working to meet OFSTED requirements at all times.
  • To ensure provision will be delivered in such a way as to reflect government guidance (EYFS) and CWAC guidelines.
  • To take a lead on and ensure that the environment is appropriate and inviting to support children's learning.
  • To be Safeguarding lead within the setting reporting to the Area Manager as Overall Lead Safeguarding person
  • To work under the direction of area manager in implementing updated or new policies and procedures.
  • To complete a percentage of staff supervisions each term.
Leadership

  • Oversee planning and use the children's individual needs and levels to input into the planning.
  • Work closely with nursery staff to ensure that assessments are consistent and a true reflection of the child
  • Oversee EYLOG and observations/photographs that are being published and sent to parents.
  • To support staff in the judgements to support children's development. Support key carers with WELL COMM screens.
  • To carry out assessment scrutinises alongside Area Manager to ensure that staff are familiar and have a sound knowledge of their key groups.
Staffing

  • To lead a team of professional staff ensuring good practice at all times
  • To support, motivate and monitor staff on completion of learning carry out joint observations with area manager on staff practice and quality of interactions with children.
Nursery

  • To oversee and manage the day to day health and safety procedures, such as risk assessments, in the moment events. Liaise with area manager on all health and safety issues. Recording all risk assessments and fire drills.
  • To ensure that the overall day to day running of the environments are safe, secure, caring and stimulating environments.
To undertake such other duties and responsibilities as may be determined by the Area Manager/OHCEL Board.
