An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Research Champion to join an established multi-disciplinary research team in the School of Business and Society at the University of York.

The University of York is home to one of the hubs of the National Institute for Health and Care Research's School for Social Care Research (SSCR).


You will be part of a small but dynamic research team undertaking adult social care research and involved in delivering the National Institute of Health and Care Research-funded project - the Curiosity Partnership.


The team has a range of interconnected projects in progress based around themes such as self-funding of care, supporting people with dementia (and their families), promoting values-based recruitment in social care and building social care research capacity in local authorities.


Role:


The Curiosity Partnership is an ongoing project that aims to develop and evaluate a regional capacity building network: facilitating greater understanding, use and production of research in adult social care.

This role will primarily be based at the University of York's Heslington West campus although a proportion of the postholder's time will be spent at Hull City Council's offices in Hull, providing embedded support as the project looks to build research skills, knowledge and interest within the local authority.


The post holder will champion research capacity building at Hull City Council, working closely with the Head of Service (Workforce, Policy and Professional Practice), the Principal Social Worker and the Principal Occupational Therapist to use research to support the modernisation of policy, leadership, systems and culture, and maximise satisfaction and positive outcomes for the people of Hull.

Flexible/ remote working options are available. The School for Business and Society is based in a modern building on the Heslington West campus.


Skills, Experience & Qualification needed:

- interest in and enthusiasm for developing research curiosity and engagement in local authority settings
- an understanding of how social care is currently provided in England, and its challenges
- excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- significant positive experience of working with multiple stakeholders, including senior management, people drawing on care and partner organisations
- the ability to work as part of a team and also to work independently using own initiative
- successful experience of providing advice, guidance and support to staff groups at various levels of an organisation
