CrossReach is one of the leading social care providers in Scotland. We have over 1,800 staff, as well as around 500 volunteers, working all across Scotland. Diverse as we are, we are united by our desire to care for those in need, as well as each other.


We are currently recruiting for the position of Community and Events Officer who will support, develop and inspire volunteers and fundraising groups to ensure our local fundraising activity is as effective as possible.


This will involve engagement with community groups, corporates, fundraising groups, social media giving and working with those groups and individuals to help CrossReach grow its fundraising income and local profile.


This is a full time position and will involve both working from home and also from our Head Office, Charis House at Milton Road East.

We operate a flexitime system Monday to Friday between the hours of 7:30am - 6:30pm (with core hours between 10am-4pm).Some flexibility will be required on occasion, should and event fall outwith these hours.

Main Function


To oversee the Community and Events fundraising programme: responsible for supporter participation events such as challenge events, relationships with local community supporters and small businesses able to support CrossReach and local projects.


Main Duties

  • Recruit and support fundraising event participants including for sponsored challenge events and local fundraising activity.
  • Act as locality point of contact and answer initial questions and queries in a timely manner.
  • Provide support for local activity led by regional CrossReach services by ensuring that colleagues and supporters have the information and equipment they need for successful fundraising activity.
  • Promote fundraising on behalf of CrossReach by planning, organising, promoting and hosting events to recruit donors.
  • Work in partnership with Community Organisations in order to promote our cause.
  • In conjunction with the Partnerships Manager and other colleagues support corporate and employee fundraising.
  • Contribute to fundraising planning through suggestions and creative ideas to engage individual donors in the community, contributing to campaign activity.
  • Coordinate and provide quality content for all relevant communications and ensure that these are accurate, timely and promoted through a full range of channels including online and social media.
  • Update and maintain CRM Database accurately.
  • Monitor and report on fundraised income from events and sponsored challenges.
  • Commission, order and monitor stock of fundraising and marketing goods/ consumables, ensuring best value is achieved.
  • Work with service managers and colleagues in other departments to promote best practice in fundraising to all staff and volunteers.
  • Ensure that health and safety, legislative requirements and best practice standards are all met for events and community engagement.
  • To demonstrate and share Christian love and support including sharing with others the leading of worship in accordance with CrossReach policy and by ensuring all staff meetings are opened with prayer and Bible reading.

Educated to degree level/ additional qualifications in events, communications or fundraising.

Skills and Abilities

Essential:


  • Demonstrable experience of recruiting participants and organising fundraising events (actual and virtual).
  • Demonstrable experience in working with individual donors, supporting them throughout, building relationships and stewardship.
  • Demonstrable experience of engaging corporate and staff fundraising.
  • Imaginative and innovative approach to fundraising and can demonstrate enthusiasm to follow new trends and assess opportunities.
  • Excellent networking skills and planning skills.
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines and income targets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: able to inform published content and speak directly to supporters.
  • Can take a project from formation to completion.
  • Postholder must be proficient in the use of MS office packages, CRM systems such as Raisers Edge, online registration systems.
  • Has a driving licence and access to a car.

Desirable:


  • Experience of working in a large organisation.
  • Experience of managing social media.
