Our successful Homechoice and Prevention team have a full time 12 month fixed term vacancy for a Homechoice and Prevention Officer.

The team are established and are in a position to share their knowledge and skills to develop a less experienced officer if you are interested in starting a career in housing or would like to develop your existing skills.

You will need to have a passion for housing and a desire to find housing solutions by providing detailed advice and support to Cheshire East residents to help them access housing and avoid homelessness.

It is a busy, demanding role and the ability to work within a team is essential. You will also be expected to work from Macclesfield Town Hall though some home working can be arranged.

Main responsibilities of the role include

  • Casework, caseload management, investigations and legal decision making in accordance with Housing Act part
  • Delivering positive outcomes to prevent/relieve homelessness
  • Telephone housing advice
  • Home visits
  • Representing Housing Services at case conferences
  • Networking and pathway development
For the most part this is a busy telephone based advice and support service providing complex housing advice.

Officers will manage their own caseload and also work as part of a team of officers to deliver the Council's duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act.

Strong telephone advice skills are essential.
