Description

You will usually look after one dog or two dogs at a time, while their owner is on holiday or away from home for a period of time.

The aim is to integrate the pets into the family and home, so they have a holiday all of their own.


  • Permanent jobs only (no temporary or holiday jobs)

Key people and teams

Report to the branch manager and work with the dog boarding team to provide a high-quality home boarding service.

Main duties

  • Look after one or two dogs at a time
  • Be able to offer a day care service (you'll need to be in for most of the day)
  • Understand special requests and specific conditions for each dog
  • Give each dog love and attention and treat them as part of the family
  • Walk dogs outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Ensure the safety of the dogs you are walking and anyone else around them
  • Remove pet waste
  • Take photos of the dogs for their owners and update them regularly
  • Communicate with clients, including arranging visits with new customers
  • Ensure schedules are up to date with collection and drop off times
  • Daily record keeping for visiting dogs
Additional duties if required

  • Conduct initial consultations and familiarisation sessions with new customers
  • Cover for team sickness/holiday

Requirements:


  • Walk for a few hours a day
  • Submit for a police and reference check
  • Complete a pet first aid course
  • Carry out some paid trial home boards before taking the job
  • Undergo training as required
  • Obtain a boarding licence (we will help you with this)
  • Demonstrate confident communication skills and customer service
  • Excellent organisational skills and daily record keeping for visiting dogs
  • Have reliable mobile phone coverage and internet access
  • Follow instructions as well as being able to think on their feet and make decisions quickly when it comes to dealing with unexpected problems/situations that may arise during a booking

Suitable homes must:

  • Ensure resident pets are neutered and welcoming of new friends
  • Have a secure and noncommunal garden
Training and development
