About the role:
The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard (DOL)s Team are looking for a DoLS Support Officer who can be flexible, is enthusiastic and highly motivated.
You will assist and support the effective coordination of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard (DOLS) responsibilities held by Powys County Council and Powys teaching Health Board (Supervisory Bodies) in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and its Code of Practice.
The Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards is a mechanism to promote an individual's Human Rights when they lack capacity to do so for themselves.
A Support Officer is an essential part of the DOLs Team and would need to have key skills as identified belowAbout you:
- Good communication skills you will be liaising with various people within the service and externally.
- Being able to learn about Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards so you can advise or direct people who may make contact with the service
- Some experience with excel and spreadsheets and ability to learn our IT systems and processes
- Organisational skills and being able to prioritise a busy service
- To be able to work as part of a cohesive team
- To be able to work remotely but be flexible with using various different bases around Powys.
What you will do:
- To have responsibility for ensuring all data and information collated throughout the duration of the DoLS process is correct, is confidential and the handling and processing of information is undertaken securely
- To work with the DOLS Lead Officer in the coordination of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards process, from initial stages to final contact and monitoring of any conditions set.
- To assist the DOLS Lead Officer with monitoring the DoLS budget ensuring the processing of spend is accurate and timely in line with standing orders and financial regulations
