The Team & Focus of the Role


This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and collaborative professional to bring real-world experience to a national RICS-regulated property consultancy.

You will manage the firm's SHE arrangements within a 'three lines' structure, drive a positiveworkplace safety culture and promote continuous improvement.

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours), Monday to Friday 8.45am - 5.15pm, based at our Ashby-de-la-Zouch office.

We have a hybrid working policy and are looking for someone who can attend the office three days per week.


Duties will include:


  • Lead on driving positive behaviours and influencing a "best practice" culture.
  • Prepare and coordinate the delivery of the annual SHE programme: monitor the firm's risk profile, draft and update SHE policies, design sensible and proportionate control measures, review safe systems of work, and plan and deliver SHE compliance audits.
  • Monitor emerging law and regulation and coordinate efforts to make changes to systems and controls, to assist management to achieve compliance.
  • Work with a network of SHE Representatives to promote firmwide engagement on SHE matters and ensure that compliance objectives are met.
  • Own the firm's Environmental Management System (ISO Make sure it is up to date, relevant to the firm's activities and reviewed annually, in line with the firm's Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements.
  • Support the wider Risk team with periodic ISO14001 external audits.
  • Lead and/or contribute to secondparty audit work as required.
  • Contribute SHE content to written bids and proposals to win client work.
  • Advise on, support and oversee the delivery of first line SHE compliance work, for example the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across the firm's offices.
  • Develop the firm's approach to incident management, act as the main reviewer of incidents that exceed agreed severity thresholds and carry out investigations.
  • Prepare periodic risk/performance management reports.
  • Support the design and delivery of SHE training e.g. new starters and colleagues carrying out higherrisk activities.

Essential

  • Experience in developing and implementing SHE policies, strategies and riskbased work programmes
  • Practical experience in highrisk settings, e.g. construction, infrastructure and utilities
  • Knowledgeable in UK health and safety law and regulations and (ideally) related RICS professional standards
  • Professional qualification (e.g., NEBOSH / NCRQ Diploma or similar / working towards)
  • Critical analysis skills and good judgement
  • Ability to gain and maintain the trust of stakeholders through clear communication, diplomacy and by taking a collaborative approach
  • Able to manage highpressure incident scenarios
  • Driving licence and willingness to travel to different office locations
  • Experience managing and developing a team

Desirable

  • Onshore gas and pipelines experience
  • Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner
  • Experience working within a three lines risk management model
