Major Recruitment are currently recruiting for a
permanent General Manager for their client who is a well established group of companies specialising in the supply of commercial assets


Hours of work - 8.30am-5.30pm M-F


Location -Glasgow


Purpose of Job:


Duties:


  • Responsible for the effective and profitable operational running of the Area Fulfilment Centre and the Support Centres
  • Influence sales performance, through effective fleet and sales strategy
  • Assume full responsibility for delivering service excellence and customer account management
  • Ensure and upholds high levels of audit compliance across the area
  • Mentor, support, appraise, and develop the branchs staff. This includes providing guidance and support to ensure their understanding of the Companies' policies and procedures
  • Oversee all hire agreements and area operations
  • Recruit, develop, and manage suitably qualified staff, in accordance with all recruitment policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate a strong commercial acumen, evidenced by increasing Company contribution via area performance
  • Safeguard the health, safety and welfare of all employees and visitors, ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the premises are upheld to the correct standard
  • Effectively manage and contribute to the supply chain within their designated region, including developing an adequate resource of repair agents/body shops
  • Regularly assess, review, and forecast all aspects of performance
  • Engage with the training and development requirements of all staff
  • Continually review site standards within their area, ensuring the provision of any remedial work needed to enhance/maintain standards
  • Maintain a constant awareness of all changing trade and field situations, to evaluate information and recommend/implement action or innovation
  • Any other duties as directed by the Regional General Manager, Head of Operations or Managing Director

Person Specification:


  • Previous Managerial experience of a sufficient seniority within the Company or similar industry is required with experience of staff supervision, customer service, negotiating, selling and administration. Experience managing multisite operations is advantageous
  • The General Manager is typically a Manager with a considerable background of trade, company and systems knowledge and a great depth of field experience
