Description
The position will suit an experienced professional with demonstrated experience in meditation, coaching and conflict resolution of barriers to the employee experience and work-related concerns.
In addition, the role will provide an alternative, informal, neutral, confidential and independent avenue for employees and contractors to brainstorm solutions to work-related concerns and help remove barriers to the employee experience, conflict, feedback and diversity and inclusion.
Ombuds are neutral and impartial dispute resolution practitioners operating outside the normal chain of command, who are authorized to provide confidential support for any workplace question or concern and with permission of the employee, they can brainstorm with formal channels to address employee complaints and concerns.
They adhere to the International Ombudsman Association Standards of Practice.Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
- Provide employees with a safe, confidential resource to have complaints heard
- Provide information on options for resolutions of workplace issues
- May facilitate "informal" mediation to allow employees to address issues with a neutral party
- Develop and manage the informal means to resolve workrelated concerns effectively, quickly, and fairly
- Manage confidentiality of information and prevents unauthorized disclosure or access to records
- Protect information from being called upon as testimony in formal processes within or outside the Company
- Proactively counsel and influence management on strategies to address recurring workplace problems while preventing any communications from breaching confidentiality or anonymity
- Deploy a global communications strategy (inperson, brochure, Web) that informs and educates client base of availability and purpose of Ombuds office in dispute resolution. Establish and maintain credibility with employees at all levels
- Travel to prioritized locations across Europe, Eurasia, Africa, Middle East with primary location in London office (approximately 3040% travel required)
- Promote awareness of and respect for diversity and inclusion to establish working relationships among employees with varying interests and concern
- Role model psychological safety, trust and feedback behaviors with all colleagues
- Foster positive relationships across all cultures globally
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree holder in HR or related field
- At least 3 to 5 years of organizational ombuds and mediation related experience in accordance with the International Ombudsman Association Standard of Practice.
- Extensive knowledge, and background on employment relations, HR policies, and employment Laws
- Demonstrated experience coaching in accordance with the International Ombudsman Association standards of practice (confidentiality, neutrality, impartiality, independence, informality) and mediation skills on workrelated concerns
- Ability to work in the U.K. and travel to meet with employees in all EEMEA targeted locations (job requires approximately 3040% travel).
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and global awareness when working with Nationals in the various countries where Chevron conducts business
- Experience in creating content and delivering presentations and videos on ombuds related topics (i.e., conflict resolution, fostering an open feedback culture, empathy, active listening and inclusive behaviors)
- Strong listening, interpersonal and communication skills. Communicate clear expectations & alignment on global teams on shared goals & outcomes
- Conflict resolution skills, including mediation process skills
- Manage and keep confidential information
- Flexible, adaptable, and agile to change
Relocation Options:
Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.
International Considerations:
Expatriate assignments will not be considered.
