We are working on behalf of a medium sized Mechanical (HVAC)and Electrical Services Contractor based in Berkshire, to recruit a trainee Mechanical Estimator.

This established Mechanical and Electrical trade contractor works with leading UK construction companies and pride themselves of providing the highest levels of Building Services design and installation quality, safety and service.

They are looking for a Mechanical Estimator who will become a committed part of a team that delivers.

Their professional approach to Building Services HVAC and Electrical design and installation has resulted in repeat business from their clients for many years.

The Role

This role has been devised with a plumber or pipefitter in mind who has a good knowledge of the HVAC Heating Air Conditioning and is looking for his next career move.

Your role within the business involves preparing Mechanical estimates and detailed tender submissions project in value from £50k to £5m.

As a trainee Estimator you will be reviewing the suitability/feasibility of the tender/ estimate enquiry; preparation and issuing of sub-contract packages for:

Tender preparation and submission

- material/labour take-off
- sub-contract compliance analysis
- tender reviews with Directors
- preparation of the tender submission/supporting case study information applicable and
- following up the submission with the client.

You will be trained in the process of Estimating and preparing detailed cost plans and budgetary quotations and ensure that you assist the project team with estimating and measuring variations, sub-contract compliance issues, client/sub-contract negotiation and ensuring that the design is suitable from a commercial perspective.

You may be asked to attend mid/post tender interviews and pre-start meetings for each project and design team
meetings (if required) to represent/protect the business commercially, you should have good contractual awareness and be commercially astute

Qualifications & Experience

Experience of Building Services or exiting knowledge of tendering and purchasing within a relevant field.
Ideally possess a recognised mechanical engineering/technician qualification C&G/ONC/HNC/Degree
Have demonstrable knowledge of Mechanical Building Services estimating
Have good contractual awareness and be commercially astute.
