As this vacancy has limited funding the maximum salary that can be offered is Grade 6, salary £31,396.

Fixed Term contract up to March 2025

Background


This is an exciting opportunity to work in the NIHR Midlands Patient Safety Research Centre (PSRC) under the maternity theme at the University of Birmingham.

This is currently the only maternity patient safety NIHR programme in the UK. We have partnerships with the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to run this programme and conduct our research.

In this job role, you will actively work on research across this programme. This will include regularly working at RCOG to engage with all stakeholders (including PPIE, and maternal health experts). You will be supervised by the theme leads in your work.


Role Summary

Main Duties

  • Collect research data; this may be through a variety of research methods, such as scientific experimentation, literature reviews, and research interviews
  • Analyse research data as directed
  • Link and liaise with other members of staff in the relevant partner organisations including healthcare professionals, pregnant women, people in the community and at RCOG
  • Contribute to systematic reviews related to obstetric prediction models, risk communication strategies, barriers and facilitators to effective risk communication, and help prioritization of the CDM tools, map individual risk factors for adverse pregnancy outcomes at booking, and map medications of pregnant women at booking
  • Present research outputs, including drafting academic publications or parts thereof, for example at seminars and as posters
  • Develop or adapt techniques, models and methods
  • Provide guidance as required to support staff and any students who may be assisting with research
  • Deal with problems that may affect the achievement of research objectives and deadlines
  • Carry out administrative tasks related directly to the delivery of the research
  • Promotes equality and values diversity acting as a role model and fostering an inclusive working culture

Person Specification

  • Clinical work experience in obstetrics (desirable)
  • Knowledge of and participations in healthcare research (desirable)
  • Experience of women's health research (desirable)
  • Working knowledge of the NHS infrastructure and operation (desirable)
  • Contribute to the planning and organising of the research programme and/or specific research project
  • Ability to analyse information and communicate effectively
  • Ability to access and organise resources successfully Knowledge of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010, and how to actively ensure in daytoday activity in own area that those with protected characteristics are treated equally and fairly
