The School has been awarded an EPSRC funded £1.2M collaboration with 5GIC/6GIC at University of Surrey, will investigate cell-free massive MIMO techniques, a new paradigm for radio access networks including Open RAN.


Role:


Skills, Experience & Qualification needed:


You will have:

  • First degree Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a cognate discipline or equivalent experience
  • PhD in Communications Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge in Wireless Communications and a range of research techniques and methodologies
  • Experience of undertaking publicly evidenced high quality research
  • Evidenced active participation in the planning and advancement of research projects
  • Proven ability to attract and obtain external research funding
  • Successful management of research projects including supervision of the work of others and providing expert advice and guidance to teams
  • Evidence of dissemination of scholarly work
  • Knowledge of Cellfree Massive MIMO, mathematical optimisation and machine learning techniques, and 3GPP and/or O-RAN standards is desirable
  • Well developed analytical skills and computer programming skills in at least one of the common languages in wireless networking Essential research, i.e Matlab, Python, C++
This is a fixed term post up to 36 months (ending 3/1/2026)
