The applicant will use their experience in digital learning using variety of authoring and media technologies, underpinned by good instructional design, to create innovative digital products and services to support the education and training.

Nottingham University Hospitals, Health Informatics Service (NUH HIS) provides services to both Nottingham City Hospital and Queens Medical Centre Campuses, as well as providing the cross community lead for the local IM&T plan.

The NUH HIS is at the forefront of developments in the NHS Connecting for Health programme and comprises a multi-disciplinary team of professional staff concerned with providing a wide range of services in information, knowledge management, computing and telecommunications.


The aim of the service is to be 'the best Digital Service in the NHS' and the post holder is expected to contribute to this competence.

Person specification

Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Achieved an IT computer qualification (ECDL or equivalent).
  • Degree Level of education or equivalent experience.
  • Professional online/eLearning qualification or a willingness to work towards one for any Digital content creation software
Desirable criteria

  • Awareness of ITIL Service Management methodology.
Experience

Essential criteria

  • Provision of a support service to end customers.
  • Advanced skills within Microsoft office products (powerpoint, outlook, word, excel)
  • Experience of creating elearning materials
  • Experience of website/social media development
  • Experience of recording and editing digital audio and/or video.
Desirable criteria

  • Specialist knowledge of more than one of the core Clinical IT Systems used within the Trust.
  • Ability to create new training material and courses based on sound analysis of training needs and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of LMS and scorm
  • Experience of using Camtasia and Captivate software
  • Understanding of Copyright, Design and Patents Act
Communication and relationship skills

Essential criteria

  • Good communication skills both written and oral. Must have influencing and interpersonal skills, must be able to deal effectively with a broad range of people from differing professional backgrounds
  • Ability to design eLearning packages, being creative and have the ability to write content that is both meaningful
  • Customer focused and able to create, build and maintain relationships.
  • Ability to train and support staff at all levels
Desirable criteria

  • Demonstrates knowledge of ICT related policies e.g. Data Protection
Analytical and Judgement skills

Essential criteria

  • Good analytical and problem solving skills for all aspects of training, access and support.
  • Liaison with customers including management of complaints and potential conflict over limited resources.
  • Excellent attention to detail
Desirable criteria

  • Audit experience to evaluate Elearning packages appropriateness for the client in their workplace.
Planning and organisation skills

Essential criteria

  • Able to work on own initiative and as a team member.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently often with similar deadlines
  • Able to accommodate the demands of the post with flexible working as required and good attendance.
  • Able to produce high quality work whilst managing a number of projects and conflicting priorities.
  • Responsible for own personal development
Physical skills

Essential criteria

  • Able to set up a PC/screen/Projector/ sound/recording equipment
  • Able to work in an office based environment with prolonged periods of PC usage
  • Willing to work at short notice at either campus contrary to designated training schedule.
