Northumbria Wheelchair Services is a newly established service, bringing together the residents of Northumberland and North Tyneside. We provide equipment to support wheelchair users, their families and carers.

Our aim is to improve the quality of life and independence of our service users, through the provision of the right wheelchair and associated equipment.


We asses prescribe and load wheelchairs, cushions and specialist seating for people who need equipment for six months or more.


Our professional supportive team are made up of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, technical instructors, warehouse staff, drivers, administration staff and management team.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team
- as a Lead Administrator

The Lead Administrator will play a critical role in helping shape the future direction of the service by delivering a high-quality administration service

The role is a varied one which has a balance between planning, allocating and supervising admin staff and providing a comprehensive admin support to the clinical/ management team

The role will may involve evening and/or weekend working


The successful applicant will be expected to role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.


  • To act as lead administrator for Northumbria Wheelchair Centre
  • Plan, allocate and supervise admin staff
  • Provide comprehensive admin support to the clinical/ management team
This role will be 22.5 hours per week


We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England.

We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres.

We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate.

We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.

  • Provides and receives complex and sensitive information. Exchanges confidential information with staff, patients GP's, carers which requires persuasive skills, motivational and negotiating skills and cooperation.
  • Undertake recruitment & selection, induction, absence management, appraisal & performance management.
  • Monitor workload capacity & administration for a service/across a locality area.
  • Manage diaries, arrange/minute meetings and make appointments, communicate with key stakeholders, typing, filing, photocopying, processing financial documentation.
