We have a vacancy for an Associate Director (ESG & Sustainable Business) to join our Environmental Management Team based in London, with other RPS UK offices also considered.
This is a key role to lead and grow our ESG client offering within the market.

What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Technical Director within our Environmental Division you will be responsible for developing the market business strategy, leading, and growing the Sustainability - ESG consulting practice alongside developing effective ESG strategies and solutions for our clients.
In addition to developing and managing client relationships, you will be leading on complex technical and strategic projects, providing technical and intellectual development for staff within your area of specialism and contributing to the Business Unit's wider business development initiatives.
Key to the role will be your ability to secure repeat business from existing clients and client care generally, along with the ability to support initiatives to win new profitable business.
There is an emphasis to provide expert technical consultancy advice to our clients and to be seen as 'the go to expert' in your field of expertise.
The role also includes acting as a Project Director, contributing towards the success of the team through the effective delivery of projects and ensuring development of key client relationships.
Who we're looking for
- You will be confident in engaging with senior management teams from across business, industry and finance sectors and in building longterm trusted advisor relationships with both internal and external consultancy service lines.
- Experienced in developing corporate sustainability and ESG programmes and strategies for clients, including the ability to identify and successfully promote related commercial opportunities.
- You will have a track record in pursuing and converting new business opportunities and securing a pipeline of ESG related opportunities across multiple client sectors. Close working with the wider ESG and due diligence teams will be needed to direct and manage these programmes effectively.
- As part of our ESG advisory service line, you will have indepth expertise and experience in delivering consulting work across multiple areas, which may include specialisms in 2 or more of the following areas: climate change and Net Zero Carbon, natural capital, sustainability strategy and engagement, sustainable finance, responsible sourcing, supply chain sustainability, social ethical labour and human rights issues, environmental compliance, producer responsibility, H&S and welfare, governance systems, EHS management systems, waste / water management and biodiversity etc.
- You will have demonstrable leadership skills and a high level of experience of completing and managing ESG and EHS due diligence projects in support of M&A transactions for a range of corporate, private equity and industrial clients at UK and nonUK across wide range of sectors and be comfortable in dealing with subcontractors and crossfunctional multijurisdictional teams.
