AECOM's climate change, sustainability and resilience team is looking to recruit a graduate consultant with a particular interest in sustainable waste management and the circular economy.

This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the world's largest multi-disciplinary consultancies and provide waste management advice for a range of clients.

They will have the opportunity to gain experience in different fields, and will receive mentoring and on-the-job training as your skills develop.

Examples of the types of project you may work on include:


  • Developing construction and/or operational waste management plans for new urban developments.
  • Advising on circular economy and waste management policy, strategy and regulation to waste producers and local or national government bodies.
  • Environmental permitting and design of waste management facilities.
  • Waste and materials aspects of environmental impact assessments.
  • Developing and implementing sustainability and net zero strategies and policies for a range of organisations, with a focus on material resource, circularity and waste management.
  • Carrying out research into waste and circular economy issues.
  • Helping prepare technical reports.
  • Collecting, assessing and interpreting data.
  • Supporting senior colleagues in attending meetings.
  • Helping build relationships with our clients.
  • Assisting with preparation of proposals to win new projects.

Skills and Experience

  • A desire to deliver technical excellence;
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office software;
  • Great communication skills in English, fluency in other languages advantageous;
  • Strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities;
  • Selfstarter, who can design and deliver work under own initiative; and
  • Solid numeracy skills, confidence in working with large data sets and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements:

  • Strong science or engineering based undergraduate degree in a relevant environmental / science/
    waste management discipline is required
    an MSc or equivalent is desirable

  • Enthusiasm and commitment to sustainable waste management and the circular economy.
  • At Consultant level, applicants would also be expected to:
  • Be working towards Chartered status with a relevant institution (e.g. CIWM).
  • Have experience in one or more specific areas of waste management and circular economy (e.g. waste permitting, circular economy/waste management plans, etc)
  • Have experience of writing technical deliverables / reports.
