This exciting part time opportunity for 3 days per week.

Our Jewish Culture and Faith Assistant will support our Jewish Culture and Faith Manager with creating documentation, arranging events purchasing and delivery of Judaica at times.

You will also support with training in the Jewish Way of Life. Sorting and auditing of Judaica. Collating information. Assisting in research and creating documentation for training, calendar dates etc. and general administrative work.


This role is for 3 days per week working between Monday and Thursday (22.5 hours). This role will include some out of hours working as and when required basis. This will include some weekends and evenings. Time in lieu for extra hours.

You will:


  • Assist the Jewish Faith and Cultural Manager in creating and enhancing the Jewish Way of Life across all resources.
  • Support resources on how to enhance the Jewish environment and atmosphere through pictures, artefacts, books and preparation for festivals and Shabbat.
  • Support Jewish content for activities, festivals, and the Jewish way of Life with Social Care coordinators to support meaningful lives. including 11 support e.g., specific language translations e.g., Farsi, Hebrew etc.
  • Support Funerals, (Levoyers), Shivas (mourning period), and burials abroad administratively as required.
  • Support resources to train volunteers providing Jewish services e.g., Shabbat services and Jewish literature for services.
  • Support with the preparation of the yearly calendar and events.
  • Support and liaise with Rabbis in the community and other charities.
  • Support and represent Jewish Care and build relationships with other faith organisations and the full range of synagogal bodies.
  • Support the pastoral and care training and placement programme for rabbinic colleges and organisations e.g., Leo Baeck College, London School of Jewish Studies, Rabbinic Training Academy

You will need:


  • Experience working with the community in a voluntary or professional role.
  • Experience/knowledge of health and social care and an understanding of faith and culture within this context.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of Jewish Faith and Culture
  • Good understanding of the diversity within the Jewish Community in the UK
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community, across all levels of observance, local parlance, and sensitivities
  • Hold a UK drivers' licence and have access to a vehicle for work and be able to travel to our resources across Greater London.
  • Outstanding administrative and organisational skills
  • A willingness to support our community outside of office hours including weekends, bank holidays and Jewish holidays when required.
