The City & Capital Group are delighted to be representing one of the most respected and highly successful specialist property finance lenders who have retained our services in order to appoint a confident and diligent Underwriter to their growing team atan exciting time.


Our client is achieving record performances for lending on a regular basis, backed by excellent longstanding funding lines and further increased investment.

The result has seen the lender double in size over the last 12 months, with ambitions to achievethe same again over the coming period.

The lender offers a range of loans designed for commercial borrowers, such as property investors and developers.

This includes solutions such as bridging finance, development exit loans and a range of Buy to Let and commercial property finance propositions.

There are plans to broaden the product set moving forward too, with a view to ensuring they can continue to always support the needs of borrowers, with loan options ranging between £250k - £40m.

This is a key appointment for the lender at an extremely busy time.

Within the role you will work closely with the businesses BDM's & brokers to assess & support their deals from a credit management perspective.

You will manage and maintain a pipeline ofactivity to ensure loans are actioned & funded in line with SLA's.


The Underwriter position reports directly in to the 'Head of' department and offers amazing progression to Senior Underwriter once you are established within the business and delivering excellent performance.

Due to the nature of the role the ideal individual will have a good knowledge knowledge of property finance credit risk principles and must be comfortable working within a fast faced and dynamic environment.


As Underwriter you will be confident and comfortable in making commercial decisions on loans with a view to identifying ways to fund them.

This role is not a tick box exercise, thus experience in the mortgage or commercial property finance sector is criticalto be qualified for this position.

Underwriter - Required Experience:


  • Previous experience within Underwriting or Credit Risk, Property Finance or Mortgages
  • Must have worked within non automated underwriting based role
  • Demonstrable success against objectives in previous roles key
  • Experience in dealing with brokers and borrowers directly is sought after

  • Highly analytical & numerical with a strong attention to detail
  • Happy working in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Confident diary manager and results orientated against set deadlines
  • Ambitious and keen to drive career forward within
  • Equally confident working alone or as part of a team


The salary on offer is up to c£60k, which will be relevant to experience and performance at interview, as you would expect.

Higher offers may also be considered for exceptional experience.


In addition our client operates an excellent bonus structure that will reward you for the success that you bring to the company.
