What you'll do:


  • Assist Group Training & Human Resources in the recruitment of trainees and experienced PCV drivers and deliver to Operations as planned with sufficient understanding of the business and role to be able to undertake duties as required.
  • Identify any breaches in departmental, company or regulatory policy to line management.
  • Assist where directed in all Company training audit requirements; including the Guild of British Coach Operators, Coach Marque, Earned Recognition and NX 8.4 audits.
  • Maintain a current detailed professional knowledge and understanding of departmentally relevant UK and EC transport regulations and laws.
  • Assist in the planning, development and delivery of all aspects of the Group's Driver Training Programme ensuring that pass rates are at or above the levels agreed.
  • Ensure that all legal and company reporting procedures as they relate to the role are met exception reporting to the Systems & Training Officer.
  • Assist in the delivery of the Groups Driver Training Programme and ongoing Road Safety campaign to ensure that all trainees, delegates and staff are provided with training, supporting information and knowledge of the Group's operating procedures.
  • Adhere to and maintain quality, compliant and safe systems of work according to EC law, DVSA and HSE requirements.
  • Assist in the delivery of the Group's Driver Mentor training programme.
  • Where directed, conduct remedial training for newly qualified drivers who have been involved in own fault accidents within 12 months of passing their tests.
  • Assist in the delivery of all Group CPC training.
  • Where directed, work closely with the Compliance department to identify any remedial training required to correct Driver behaviours and skills.
  • Assist in the scheduling of CPC courses and other planned training for all Group Drivers in advance, updating all relevant systems where required.
  • Proactively adapt to the changing training environment in the passenger transport industry to best meet the Groups requirements for the future.
  • Assist in the delivery of comprehensive and effective vehicle familiarisation training packages for all the Groups PCV fleet types, ensuring that all training is recorded on individual Drivers HR records.
  • Participate in post own fault incident / accident investigations where directed.
  • Assist in the delivery of mandated training / assessments required for the NationalExpress Approved Drivers List (ADL), and as required for all National Express 8.4 audits

What you'll need:


  • Hold a valid clean PCV (Catagory D) Licence for a minimum of 3 years
  • Must have a people development focused approach and outlook
  • Must be organised, flexible and adaptable
  • Must be a strong communicator
  • Previous training experience and relevant qualifications would be an advantage
