You will be working as a Finance Manager for Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children.

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH) is a national centre of excellence in the provision of specialist children's health care, currently delivering the widest range of specialist care of any children's hospital in the UK.It is the only specialist Biomedical Research Centre for paediatrics, the largest centre in the UK for children and young people with heart or brain problems, and the largest centre in Europe for children and young people with cancer.

It works in partnershipwith the UCL Institute of Child Health (ICH), part of University College London, and together they form the largest paediatric research and teaching centre in the UK.


Description
The main responsibilties for this role are as followed:

  • To assist in the production of the monthly financial reports, assuming responsibility for a number of department wide tasks and tasks required for named services
  • To lead and be responsible for the production of the monthly financial information, income and expenditure, for a range of clinical and corporate units.
  • To ensure financial adjustments input by the transaction teams are accurate and to made any further required financial adjustments.
  • To analyse income and expenditure variances to plan and trend to help inform knowledge of the financial position and to communicate this to senior finance staff, clinical unit / corporate department managers and clinicians, and to executive team members.
  • To prepare forecasts for designated clinical / corporate units and to agree these with managers within the clinical unit / corporate area.
  • To produce monthly and quarterly information on the financial performance of clinical units and / or corporate departments.
  • To attend key meetings to lead discussions on the financial performance of clinical units and corporate departments, including unit board meetings, financial review meetings and executive strategic review meetings.
  • To model activity, income and expenditure in relation to complex business case developments and funding proposals, both internal and external to the Trust. To be responsible for ensuring that financial modelling is robust, accurate and in line with overallTrust objectives. To work closely with the capital team to ensure that the impact of capital costs is fully factored into revenue business cases, and vice versa.

Profile
A qualified driven accountant with experience in a similar role.
