An excellent opportunity for a Technical Bid Writer to join a well-established, exciting and growing Lithium-ion space business. The company designs, manufacturers and qualifies batteries for international space missions on satellites, launchers, and interplanetary vehicles.

The company's customer's include both national and international space agencies like NASA and European Space Agency as well as working across the commercial market supporting missions that include Earth observation, internet of things satellite constellations and global positioning systems.

The position is based in the Culham Science Centre near Abingdon in Oxfordshire and is a job that can truly impact people across the globe.


  • Follows all company policies and procedures as listed, but limited to: warranty, safety, environmental, ISO9000 and AS9100, OSHA and HAZMAT
  • Travels to customer sites to inspect, evaluate, diagnose, and repair equipment
  • Provides technical assistance to various battery teams during storage periods, battery installations and maintenance availabilities
  • Removes and disassembles cell modules and inspects parts to detect defects, cleans and neutralizes customer batteries
  • Replaces defective parts, reassembles battery, and performs required retests
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots battery monitoring equipment
  • Coordinates problem resolution with EnerSys manufacturing
  • Develops, writes, and maintains technical documentation, including manuals and work instructions
  • Develops and provides written reports of inspections and submarine battery installations in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Functions as a technical resource to EnerSys Design, engineering and manufacturing personnel
  • Maintains records of performance reports
  • Develops and conducts training on the safe operation of shipboard batteries, and demonstrates skills to trainees
  • Provide feedback to EnerSys Product Engineering so that continuous improvement in products is achieved and customer satisfaction is enhanced
  • Provide additional assistance on an asneeded basis to other members other teams (both Corporate and plant) on special projects as they develop through the normal course of business
  • These could include, but are not limited to; customer visits, supplier visits, conference and trade show support, literature review and custom order reviews
  • Able and willing to travel to customer sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • College Degree in related field or an equivalent of job experience and education
  • Ability to operate a vehicle in a safe competent manner
  • Able to operate a cell phone; able to perform basic math and units of measure
  • Able to read, write and comprehend in the English language.
  • 4 year Degree in a relevant field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This position will work in an office setting, expect mínimal physical demands
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds/23 kilos on a daily continuous basis. Anything heavier will be done with the assistance of a mechanical device or with the assistance of another employee.
  • Must be able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch
  • Must be able to differentiate colours
  • This position requires you to drive a company vehicle. Therefore, you must be able to pass the company's driving requirements. Certain vehicles may also require a specific drivers license and have additional driving requirements
