Description

The Kitchen Assistant in a nursing home is responsible for assisting with the preparation and service of meals for residents.

The role requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow established recipes and procedures, and maintain a clean and organized kitchen.


Responsibilities:


  • Assist with the preparation and cooking of meals, following established recipes and procedures.
  • Assist with the assembly and presentation of meals, ensuring that they meet the dietary needs and preferences of residents.
  • Ensure that all food items are properly labeled, stored, and rotated according to food safety guidelines.
  • Assist with cleaning and sanitizing kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces, following established protocols and procedures.
  • Assist with dishwashing and other cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Assist with the receiving and storage of food and supplies, ensuring that they are stored safely and appropriately.
  • Assist with inventory management, including tracking supplies, monitoring usage, and reporting any shortages or issues to the head chef or kitchen supervisor.
  • Observe infection control and health and safety procedures at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Attend training and development sessions as required, maintaining uptodate knowledge and skills in food preparation and service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the head chef or kitchen supervisor.

Working Conditions:


The Kitchen Assistant may work a variety of shifts, including day, evening, night, and weekend shifts, depending on the needs of the nursing home.

The work can be physically demanding and may involve lifting, carrying, and moving food items and supplies.


Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Zero hours contract

Contract length: 6 months

Part-time hours: 0-35 per week


Salary:
£7.49-£10.42 per hour
