We work closely with Power and Gas Trading, Downstream, Renewable Generation, CCUS, Project & Technology, in-country teams, Policy and Advocacy, and functions to develop customer backed clean H2 industrial value chains.


What's the role?


As the Hydrogen Value Chain Structurer, you will be part of the Hydrogen Industry organization, and report to Hydrogen Value Chain Structuring Lead.


The Hydrogen Value Chain Structuring team within H2 Industry is a commercial function accountable for the valuation and risk assessment of H2 business opportunities that takes ownership of the valuation and deal management methodology.

The main activity of the Hydrogen Value Chain Structuring team is close collaboration with originators to develop business opportunities that add value and to support growth of the portfolio within the H2 Industry across the globe.


To support the growing activities of the business, the Hydrogen Value Chain Structuring team is looking for a Value Chain Structurer who combines the quantitative and analytical skill set with a commercial mindset and the ability to manage a complex stakeholder environment across Shell.

The role requires an agile, creative mind and strong work ethic to keep pace with the market developments.


Accountabilities for the role


The main responsibility of the role is to collaborate with the business developers and support the growth of the portfolio, while being accountable for the methodology of the valuation and risk assessment of business transactions.


You will have a key role in developing the business through integrating the end-to-end value chain for both green and blue hydrogen opportunities globally.

At any point in time, you will be working on multiple opportunities in parallel and be exposed to external counterparties.

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team (local and internationally based) whilst contributing to a culture underscored by HSSE, diversity and inclusiveness and a learner mind set.

You will work closely with colleagues across Shell to advance a local customer backed hydrogen business.


This includes:

  • Understanding of the green value chain from renewable power to green hydrogen production to supplying to customers
  • Producing ideas and structure for power procurement pricing, H2 market pricing
  • Developing H2 value chain exposure analysis
  • Producing ideas and structures to integrate and optimize the value chain for each opportunity in hydrogen industry funnel
  • Develop and own valuation methods and models for pricing and risk assessment of business opportunities. Identify value drivers and risks inherent in the H2 value chain transactions
  • Interfacing with other Shell's teams to optimize power and hydrogen integrated value chain opportunities

What we need from you?
We're keen to speak from individuals with extensive commercial analysis and structuring experience.

You'll also call on your bachelor's or master's degree in Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, or similar fields with high numeracy.


  • Thorough understanding of the evolving power market, renewable energy certificates and regulatory framework
  • Excellent analytical / financial skills, business acumen, and demonstrated achievement.
  • Experience in financial modelling/ commercial analysis/structuring/ risk management
  • Strong quantitative skills, with attention to detail
  • Perseverance and ability to cultivate strong positive working relationships internally and externally to get things done
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills, as well as the ability to achieve results through influencing others.
  • Credibility and respect with internal and external industrial stakeholders
  • Pragmatic, capable of working with a wide range of people and work activities
  • Comfortable operating in a semistructured environment
  • Capable of handling different tasks in parallel
  • Programming skills e.g. Python is beneficial
