Wood Power Solutions UK is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cabling Operative to join our dynamic team. As a Cabling Operative, you will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient and effective cabling installations and maintenance.


Job Objective

  • To assist in all aspects of Cable Installation & civils works.
  • To deliver the work safely and in a controlled manner.
  • Report any defectives & safety concerns as soon as reasonably practicable.
  • Deliver the work safely.
  • Deliver the work productively.
  • Be reliable, trustworthy, and honest.
  • To execute all activities safely and efficiently to agreed work plans, safety management system requirements and best working.

Key Accountabilities and Responsiblities

  • Read, understand, and implement all instructions, procedures and work instructions for the project, ensuring always, that the project works is undertaken safely and to a high standard.
  • Comply with all Wood H&SE policy's & procedures.
  • Complete all work scopes in accordance with instructions received from the cabling foreman.
  • Be cooperative with all other site staff inclusive of other contractors.
  • Be an inclusive part of the site team & willing to learn & strive to progress in the business.
  • Reporting to Site Management of any defective/damaged plant & equipment & safety issues.
  • Do not misuse or intentionally damage any item of PPE or equipment provided to you to undertake your role.
  • Must be able to take instruction from the cable foreman & work under own initiative & as part of a team.
  • Undertake any health and safety training as required.
  • Provide support to the site foreman.
  • Must stop any work that is unsafe
  • Stop Work Authority SWA.
  • Always be fit for work.
  • Must put own safety and those of colleagues first
  • Must not operate any plant unless having the correct training and competence to do so.
  • Must start work only after assessing the risks.
  • Must demonstrate safety as an integral part of the job.
  • To undertake any other duties as and when necessary to meet the varying demands of the business and satisfy customer needs

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

Qualifications

Essential:


  • CSCS operative
  • Cat & Genny/ HSG4
  • Forward tipping dumper
  • Asbestos Awareness E-Learning
  • COSHH Awareness E-Learning
  • Emergency at work first aid
  • ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport
  • Fire Awareness

Desirable:


  • Excavator 360
  • Telehandler
  • Winch training
  • Bomag ride on roller
  • Street works training, operatives.
  • Deep excavations training
  • ECITB Abrasive Wheels
  • Spill Management
  • DVLA Towing Licence training and test

Experience

  • Working in the Utility/Construction Industry environment.
  • Cable Installation experience, including setting up open track installations.
  • Experience of working in a substation environment.
  • Experience of cable duct laying in agricultural & carriageway environments,
  • Good knowledge of HSG4
  • Excavation experience, including carriageway.
  • Experience of excavation in and around live services.
  • Very good understanding of safety principles and requirements for all site activities.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with Site Foreman & other team members.
  • Basic understanding of CDM.
  • Understanding of working with Health and Safety and Quality policies.
  • Experience of working in a team environment.
