Description

An exciting opportunity has become available in the Specialist Ambulatory Services at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT), and we are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, skilled and motivated individual to join our team.

This full-time post involves working as a Patient Access Coordinator for the Clinical Genetics Team, working within the wider SAS admin team.

Patient Access Coordinator:

The Patient Access Coordinator will be the first point of contact for patients and service users providing in-depth knowledge of outpatient and inpatient scheduling procedures for their speciality.

The Patient Access Co-ordinator will liaise closely with the clinical team and speciality management teams to ensure patients receive timely and appropriate appointments according to their care pathway.

Depending on the requirements of the speciality, the post holder will need to cover the service on a rotation during operational hours, providing clinic reception cover, scheduling functions, general administrative support and telephone cover for their speciality.

This will ensure that, at every contact with the Trust, patients can speak to staff who understand their scheduling needs and that clinical teams are always supported by knowledgeable administrative staff.

The Clinical Genetics department is one of the largest integrated Genetics services in the country and provides a comprehensive clinical and diagnostic service for a population of nearly five million in the South East.

Staff include genetic counsellors, some with nursing backgrounds, medical geneticists and secretarial and administrative staff.

The department has a reputation for delivering innovative and fully integrated clinical and laboratory services which benefits from close links to the King's College London Division of Genetics and Molecular Medicine and the National Institute for Health Research Biomedical Research Centre (a partnership between KCL and GSTT).

The service is based at the Guy's site but maintains close working relationships with other specialities at St Thomas', the Evelina Children's' Hospital and Kings College Hospital.

The full job description provides an overview of the key tasks and responsibilities of the role, and the person specification outlines the qualifications, skills, experience, and knowledge required.
