Join us on the Journey... National Express are looking to recruit a UK Public Affairs Manager to contribute to the delivery of a best-in-class public affairs service encompassing all of National Express's activity in the UK.


What you'll do:


  • Support the work of the UK Head of Public Affairs and UK Director of Communications in delivering National Express's public affairs and stakeholder relations strategy for the UK business
  • Lead on the development of an effective stakeholder management system for the UK business
  • Contribute towards a developing and effective system of auditing stakeholder perceptions
  • Track and oversee responses to stakeholders and casework
  • Contribute to reports, horizon scanning and insight for the Executive Team and senior internal stakeholders
  • Prepare written communications such as briefing packs, presentations, consultation responses etc to support the communication of National Express's role as a provider of public transportation services and perspective on key issues is understood by policymakersand opinion formers
  • Be alert to opportunities to shape to regulatory, legislative and stakeholder environment to deliver positive and specific commercial outcomes for National Express
  • Liaise regularly and effectively with other members of the UK communications team to ensure alignment of messaging and coordination of activity where required
  • Deputise for the UK Head of Public Affairs as required

What you'll need:


  • Experience in a fast paced public affairs environment with proven experience of dealing with stakeholders in central and local government
  • The ability to quickly gain an understanding of the policy landscape affecting National Express
  • Be reliable, responsive with the highest standards of professionalism; ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Degree level or equivalent qualification, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • IT literate with word, PPT and Excel skills and experience in producing and commissioning presentational material
  • Have a track record of team management is desirable, but not essential
