Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust is looking for an inspirational and experienced individual in Quality Improvement to lead our Service Improvement function and the development of a culture of Quality Improvement throughout the organisation.


The post holder is responsible to the Lead AHP and Quality Improvement Director and accountable to the Strategy and Partnerships Director.

This senior role is an integral member of the Trust Strategy and Partnerships team contributing to developing Trust wide strategic direction, alongside delivering our implementation plans.

Working with our Organisational Development team will be key to help create the conditions for quality improvement to thrive.

The role offers significant developmental opportunity for an experienced Quality Improvement professional looking to develop their wider strategic leadership, alongside spreading a culture of innovation throughout the Trust, working in partnership with the National Centre for Child Health Technology team.


The post holder is accountable to the Director of Strategy and Partnerships Director for the delivery of the Trust wide Improvement programme and for leading the development of a culture of Quality Improvement throughout the organisation.

The post will also lead on the development, coordination and delivery of the Trust's cost improvement plan, providing regular reports to the Trust's Finance Director, working closely with colleagues in clinical and corporate care groups.

This will include reporting on "delivery" but also developing a culture of value improvement, as part of our continuous service improvement approach.


The post is an integral part of the Trust Strategy and Partnerships team, and will contribute to developing Trust wide strategic direction, alongside delivering our implementation plans.


The post holder will also lead directly on specific pieces of partnership working, focused on strategic transformation and delivery, leading on behalf of Sheffield Children's and reporting directly to the Strategy and Partnerships role.

The post-holder will work effectively across the organisation and with partners to deliver the overall Trust priorities.

  • The post holder will be responsible for:
  • Strategic design, leading the development of a shared vision and strategy around the purpose of and approach to the Service Improvement across the Trust.
  • Delivery of our service improvement programme, working with workstream leads to ensure strategic alignment and successful delivery of benefits. This includes leading the Service Improvement Team and Programme Management Office
  • Overseeing and driving delivery, providing a team of project, programme and quality improvement lead of complex improvement and projects ensuring that are delivered to time and within budget. Delivery will include both internal Trust improvement programmes and strategic delivery programmes across Sheffield, South Yorkshire and with national partners.
  • Financial Improvement: This will include reporting on "delivery" of cost savings across the Trust but also developing a culture of value improvement, as part of our continuous service improvement approach.
  • Understanding and navigating the wider policy and political landscape of the health and care system and working in partnerships with other organisations to deliver and realise tangible improvements for children and young people.
  • Leading a culture change within the Trust to develop a culture of continuous quality improvement through embedding the necessary methodologies and tools, and developing the curiosity and resilience, to engage with quality improvement from Board to ward.
  • Information, benchmarking, and analysis: Continually scan internally and externally for best practice, benchmarking information, innovation, and improvement ideas, translating these into information to understand our practice and to influence progress against strategic objectives.
