Mechanical Design Engineer

Location:
Stockport


Salary:
£30,000 - £50,000 Dependent on experience

The Role:
Provide Design support on overseas activities
Responsible for leading mechanical design on projects
Key Role Objectives

  • Responsibility for all aspects related to mechanical engineering
  • Producing mechanical engineering design packs to enable successful installation, commissioning and operation of Combined Heat and Power, Tri Generation and Battery Energy Storage System plants.
  • Provide input and support throughout the life cycle of a project from Sales to Service.
  • Responsible for specifications, mechanical design, P&ID drawings, detail drawings, general arrangements and equipment schedules;
  • Technical calculations and assessments, including safety assessments
Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • To assist in managing all mechanical aspects of the Projects with the clear goal of
maximum efficiency and effectiveness

  • Responsible for the production of mechanical design and specifications including
but not limited to Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams,
Functional Design Specifications, Technical Specifications, Schematic Drawings,
Detail Drawings, Equipment Schedules

  • Liaise with CAD Designers, coordinating and leading activity in order to ensure that
the design packages (Layouts, General Arrangements, Piping Drawings) are
produced to the required timescales and standards of quality.

  • Responsible for the design of heat recovery, heat rejection, hot water, chilled water,
steam, noise attenuation, and ventilation systems through technical calculations
and assessments, including safety assessments.

  • Pipe and pump sizing based on maximum allowable velocities and pressure losses
for various fluids.
Skills/Experience

  • Be confident when working independently
  • Demonstrate initiative and able to present technical results;
  • Ability to communicate within a team
  • Experience of working within the CDM regulations, current HS & E legislation and
  • ISO quality standards is desirable
  • A technical background in any of the following would be an advantage: Steam, Hot water, Combined heat and power, Compressed air, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Refrigeration, including absorption chilling, Water treatment, Industrial gases, Cooling plant,Ancillary mechanical and electrical plant as would be found on typical industrial, waste to energy or hospital sites
  • Previous experience with AutoCAD or equivalent is desirable.
