Charitable Coordinator


Line Manager:
Reports to the YRSN Steering Group.


Location:
Harrogate - Regional Agricultural Centre, Great Yorkshire Showground with flexibility considered for some home working.


Salary:
Up to £15000 per annum


Job Type:
Part Time, Permanent


Hours of work:
, 3 days per week, plus flexibility to represent YRSN and run YRSN events outside of these hours.


About the role:


Job Purpose:
This is a crucial role as part of the Charitable Activities of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.

The role is to coordinate the work of the Yorkshire Rural Support Network, a partnership of farming organisations, charities and voluntary agenciesthat together promote and provide sources of help - whether practical, financial, medical or emotional - to those who live in farming and rural communities in Yorkshire.


The Network:
The Yorkshire Rural Support Network is a network funded by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society. The Network's strategic activities and priorities are guided by its steering group and Chair.

Principal Duties:

The Coordinator is the first point of contact for partnership organisations and charities who are members of the Yorkshire Rural Support Network.


Key responsibilities in this role are:
- to maintain, manage and develop close working relationships with Network members
- to promote the work of network members within the network, externally and within the YAS Charitable Activities team
- to organise, run and develop activities on behalf of the Network including the Women in Farming Network
- to work closely with the Yorkshire Agricultural Society's Charitable Activities Manager to coordinate the promotion of the Network, its events and activities
- to organise meetings, speakers and maintain the Network's database
- to raise sponsorship support to fund events and initiatives such as the Women In Farming Network Autumn Gathering.


The role involves some administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the Network's functions and attending some external events and meetings on behalf of the Network.

The Coordinator will have the ability to initiate objective solutions to problems,and develop a network of partners organisations.


About You:


Experience required:

  • A proven track record of developing networks by maintaining excellent communication with all stakeholders and demonstrating your ability to work as part of a team
  • A proven track record of delivering activities and projects with excellent results in collaboration with partners
  • Understanding of rural and farming life, socially, and economically
  • Knowledge and awareness of the changes impacting upon British agriculture
  • Knowledge of key rural policies relating to the focus of this post

Skills:


  • Ability to prioritise and work on your own initiative, and to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent Administration skills including good computer skills and knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Ability to relate well to, and work in partnership with colleagues and volunteers.
  • A highly organised individual and excellent communicator with the ability to forge a strong working rapport with key stakeholders.
  • An ability to travel around North Yorkshire.
