Software Engineer

Stoke-on-Trent

£40,000 - £70,000 Per Annum
Our client, is looking for a Software Engineer to join their growing team


Software Engineer Roles and Responsibilities:


  • Interpret the client's requirements for electrical and mechanical needs
  • Support clients' engineering needs
  • Prepare operating documentation and provide equipment commissioning
  • Compile PLC programs
  • Work in coordination with Engineering and Production teams as well as interface with hardware design and development team
  • To liaise with other departments in order to ensure a smooth and rapid transition of new products from design to manufacture
  • Provide support to commissioning technicians (back office)
  • Assist with improvements/changes to existing products
  • Prepare design documentation, specifications and undertake verification of designs through development
  • Enable the organisational objectives to be met
  • Realisation of technical documentation in collaboration with the project manager (FDS, HDS, SDS, user manual...)

The ideal Software Engineer will be/ have:

  • Degree qualified in Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • Experience of software development in an embedded environment
  • Working experience as a PLC Programmer, or a similar role in the Engineering industry
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software principles
  • Understanding of hardware devices, MCU's, hardware interfacing, device drivers
  • Experience of testing software and using hardware test equipment
  • Programming languages for programmable control systems (IEC standards)
  • Experience with Siemens software tools (TIA Portal, STEP 7) and/or Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 and/or Omicron
