A multi-site operation, situated in
Holbeach Hurn and
Fosdyke Lincolnshire, we consist of a 6,500 acre farming operation, joint ventures in fresh produce and four factories, employing over 600 people that package fresh, wholehead and prepared vegetables for wholesale and high-street retailers.


The Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a
Health and Safety Officer based at our site in
Fosdyke.


This is a
Monday to
Friday role working
08:30 -
17:00, and there will be the requirement for flexibility to travel to our site in Holbeach Hurn as required.


You will support and assist the Health and Safety Manager and site management team on all aspects with regards to Health and Safety, ensuring that all safety legislation is adhered to, and policies and practices are adopted and communicated at all levels.

Whilst monitoring and reviewing the protective and preventative safety measures and assisting in minimising operational losses, occupational health problems, accidents, and injuries across all company business units.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Monitor and report on all aspects of Health & Safety
  • Maintain H&S policies, systems, and procedures
  • Maintain the H&S Management system and control documentation within it
  • Monitor the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations
  • Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated, and recommended improvements implemented. Any issues should be escalated to your Line Manager.
  • Monitor safety inspections, fire drills, and fire alarms and ensure they are correctly documented.
  • Liaise with H&S consultants in the provision of training programmes and H&S services
  • Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety and welfare legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business
  • Provide regular reports to the Board and senior management team on relevant H&S activities
  • Liaise with suppliers i.e., insurers, solicitors etc.
  • Undertake written audit reports with corrective actions in conjunction with the relevant BU manager and carry out follow up inspections to confirm corrective actions
  • Assist in the training of employees to meet specific H&S requirements
  • Attend relevant H&S meetings
  • Carry out and deliver H&S induction training to all new employees.
  • Carry out personal and welfare risk assessments on employees as necessary i.e. new and expectant mothers, injury or illness.

About you

  • A solid health and safety background in food manufacturing would be advantageous however other industries will be considered.
  • NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
  • CDM Awareness
  • Thorough knowledge of health and safety regulations and legislation
  • Audit / Inspection experience
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and able to communicate effectively to all levels
